The trek is a 4000 year cultural journey linking the two ancient cities of Minoa and Arkesini.

The name of the path refers to the rural festival in honor of Athena Itonia .

The path passes by the important archaeological sites of Minoa and Arkesini (Kastri), Rachoula and the Tower of Agia Triada,

canyons and beaches (Foinikies, Aghia Saranta and Tyrokomo) and Aghia Thekla  and Aghios Nikolaos Kamari  chapels

decorated with Byzantine frescoes.
